Nelly Furtado in Poznań!
The Canadian star will give a concert 11 July in Poznań (starts at 20.00). The concert is a part of action "Poznań for the Earth" within the confines of "the Year of Climate and Environment" hold in the capital of Wielkopolska State. It looks its going to be one of the biggest musical events during this summer in our country. At the present the singer is one of the most important figure on the pop music stage.
Nelly Furtado will give a concert at the Malta Lake on the terrain of Malta's Terms. A few dozen thousands fans, not only from Poland, will admire the Star. This is first and the only performance of Nelly Furtado in our country. The visit in Poland is a part of Nelly's European turnee during which the Canadian is going to visit, among other thing, Russia and Holland.
Biography
Nelly Furtado (born in 1978 in Canada but at every step emphasizing her Portuguese roots), since she was a child, has known she wants to appear on stage. She grew up in the family where almost everyone played or sang (amateur); also Nelly was a choir singer. When she was a teenager, she put her first steps in the local bands; she was very keen on trip - hop, later -rock. All the time she was trying to write her own songs (till now the artist is the author of most of her songs). In the end she made her decision of moving from Toronto to Los Angeles and she started working over her first album. Today, the star recalls, that at that time, it was very important to her how many musical genres she would be able to mix in those songs but not only what kind of songs she writes and if they will be hits.
First album of Nelly Furtado "Whoa, Nelly" came out in USA in 2000. She became popular very fast. Her single "I'm Like a Bird" conquered the charts around the world. That song brought four nominations to Grammy Rewards and won one of it. The critics are also keen of her - the girl delighted them with her talent, modesty and unpretentious style. "Turn Off the Light" from the album "Whoa, Nelly" became a hit too.
The artist was giving concerts and interviews, was reigning on magazines' covers and she decided to set up home and ... she started preparation to record new album. The album "Folklore" (2003) - is an experiment with modern folk music. "Powerless (Say What You Want)" or "Forca" that promoted UEFA Cap in Portugal came from this album.
Like the singer recalls today, before 3rd album came out, she said to herself that she doesn't need to prove anything to anybody anymore. She felt free and she decided to have musical fun. The artist went to Miami where she was working for a few months over the album "Loose". During the production of that album she was working with Timberland, one of the best and the most sought - after musical producer in the world. The 3rd album of Nelly Furtado career came out in 2006 and became a success. The single "Maneater" was on the top not only on the radio stations but also on the discos. "Promiscuous", "Say it right" and "All good things" followed the "Maneater" as well.
